The fleet gathers at the east end of Lido Island and follows the traditional course through the harbor. Marina Park is the first major public viewing point, which is exactly why it is the most crowded stretch of shoreline every single night.

Newport Beach Boat Parade Parking: Plan This Properly
This is the detail that trips people up, so give it real thought before parade night.
All city parking lots stay open throughout the parade, and street parking along the route is available. But this event draws over a million viewers across the season, and the lots nearest the water fill early on every one of the five nights.
Driving here
- From the north: 405 South to the 55 South. Stay on the 55 until it ends at Newport Boulevard, then continue straight until Newport Harbor appears on your left.
- From the south: 405 North to the 55 South, then the same run down Newport Boulevard.
- From PCH: Take the Newport Boulevard exit toward the Balboa Peninsula from either direction. Our dock sits directly on West Coast Highway, so you do not need to go out onto the peninsula at all.
Practical newport beach boat parade parking advice
- Arrive 45 to 60 minutes before your slot. This is not us being over cautious. Traffic on Newport Boulevard and around the peninsula slows to a crawl after 5:00 p.m. on parade nights.
- Our West Coast Highway location is an advantage. Most of the parade night parking chaos happens on the Balboa Peninsula and around Balboa Island. Departing from the mainland side of the harbor keeps you out of the worst of it.
- Marina Park holds 177 spaces and is the largest public viewing area on the route, which also makes it the slowest place to leave at the end of the night.
- Park once and leave the car alone. Moving it mid evening is a losing game.
- Consider a rideshare on Friday and Saturday. If anyone in your group is drinking, this solves two problems at once, because the person driving the boat needs to stay sober.
- Call us for dock specific parking guidance when you book. We would rather tell you exactly where to go than have you circling at 5:45 p.m.
